本次出訪在本校社會發展學系邱毓斌主任之引介下,拜會倫敦大學臺灣研究中心(Centre of Taiwan Studies, University of London)。該中心自成立以來,長期深耕臺灣研究領域,課程設計與研究主軸涵蓋臺灣政治經濟體制、選舉制度與民主化發展,並特別著重於臺灣與中國在政治與經濟制度上的比較研究。此次與研究中心主任進行交流,除深化彼此對研究議題與學術取向之理解外,雙方亦就未來學術合作及學生交流計畫進行初步討論。倫敦大學臺灣研究中心對於與國立屏東大學展開實質合作表達高度興趣,期盼透過課程、研究與學術活動之交流,進一步強化雙邊在臺灣研究領域的學術連結。

行程中亦拜會 Anglia Ruskin University(ARU)。該校教育學院(School of Education and Social Care)設有 BA (Hons) Primary Education Studies、MA Education 等與初等及中等教育密切相關之學程,課程內容結合理論學習、學校實習、教學實踐與教學反思,為培育教師專業能力的重要管道。教育學院長期與當地小學及中學建立穩定合作關係,提供多元且完整的實習場域,其教學理念強調「inclusion」、「diversity」及「child-centered learning」,高度契合當前多元文化與國際教育發展趨勢,具備成為本計畫國外教育見實習合作對象之潛力,尤適合小學教育類科及英語教育方向。

此外,本次亦再次與過去曾協助本校合作之 Kerry 何老師聯繫,由其親自帶領參觀 ARU 教育系及教育學院,並表達願意擔任屏東大學與英國教育系所之間的溝通媒介,協助引薦英國教育系所教師與臺灣教育相關系所進行交流。雙方亦就未來學術合作進行初步討論,除共同研究外,亦可進一步將國外教育見實習計畫引介至當地中小學,拓展實質合作的深度與廣度。

另行拜會一所英國切爾姆斯福德的小學Moulsham Junior School,由校長Mrs. Marie Staley親自引領進行校園導覽,並詳細說明學校的教育理念與校務運作。在英國教育體系中具一定代表性。校長以其開放且前瞻的教育觀,展現對創新教學與師資培育的高度重視。本次參訪為團隊在師資培育模式與教學方法交流上提供寶貴學習機會,亦促進雙方對教育理念之相互理解與借鑑。感謝校長及校方的熱情接待與支持,期盼未來能建立長期且穩定的合作關係,共同推動教育專業的發展與精進。

Academic Visit Report: Delegation to SOAS, ARU, and Moulsham Junior School

I. Visit to the Centre of Taiwan Studies, SOAS University of London

Facilitated by Director Yu-Bin Chiu of the Department of Social Development at National Pingtung University (NPTU), the delegation visited the Centre of Taiwan Studies at SOAS University of London. Since its inception, the Centre has been a cornerstone for advancing Taiwan Studies, with a rigorous research focus on Taiwan’s political and economic systems, electoral frameworks, and democratic evolution. It is particularly recognized for its critical emphasis on comparative analyses between Taiwan and China.

Through high-level deliberations with the Centre’s Director, both parties not only deepened their mutual understanding of respective research strengths but also engaged in preliminary consultations regarding future academic collaborations and student mobility initiatives. The Centre expressed a profound interest in establishing a substantive partnership with NPTU, aiming to fortify bilateral academic ties through joint curriculum development, collaborative research projects, and co-organized academic symposia.

II. Visit to Anglia Ruskin University (ARU)

The delegation subsequently conducted an evaluative visit to Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). The School of Education and Social Care at ARU offers programs—specifically the BA (Hons) Primary Education Studies and MA in Education—that demonstrate high synergy with Taiwan’s teacher training frameworks. These programs effectively synthesize theoretical discourse with school placements and reflective pedagogy, supported by a robust network of long-standing partnerships with local schools.

ARU’s pedagogical philosophy, which prioritizes inclusion, diversity, and child-centered learning, aligns seamlessly with contemporary global trends in multicultural and international education. Consequently, ARU is identified as an ideal strategic partner for the overseas teaching observation and practicum components of NPTU’s projects, particularly for students specializing in primary and English education.

During the visit, the delegation reconvened with Ms. Kerry Ho, a long-term supporter of NPTU’s international initiatives. Ms. Ho provided an extensive tour of ARU’s educational departments and reaffirmed her commitment to serving as a strategic liaison between NPTU and educational institutions in the United Kingdom. Discussions further explored the feasibility of integrating overseas teaching observations into local UK schools, thereby expanding the breadth of practical cooperation and faculty exchange.

III. Visit to Moulsham Junior School

The delegation also visited Moulsham Junior School in Chelmsford. The Headteacher, Mrs. Marie Staley, personally facilitated a campus tour and provided a comprehensive overview of the school’s educational philosophy and administrative governance. Under Mrs. Staley’s visionary leadership, the school has maintained a distinguished reputation for innovative pedagogy and professional teacher development.

This visit served as a valuable platform for professional exchange regarding teacher education models and pedagogical practices, fostering a shared commitment to core educational values.

The delegation extends its sincere gratitude to the Headteacher and the administration of Moulsham Junior School for their exceptional hospitality. We look forward to cultivating a sustainable, long-term partnership that fosters professional development and pursues educational excellence on a global scale.
